Dr. Azinue Clementine Lem

Dr. Azinue obtained her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the Faculty of Science, The University of Bamenda, Cameroon, in February 2026. She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in 2016 and 2019 respectively from The University of Bamenda. In 2021, she obtained a Secondary School Teacher Diploma (DIPES II) in Biology from the Higher Teachers Training College (HTTC), Bambili, Cameroon.

Her research focuses on food security, fungal diversity and identification, fungal pathology, biodiversity, and conservation. Dr. Azinue is a member of several scientific organizations, including the Cameroon Bioscience Society (CBS), the African Phytopathology Group, and the British Society for Plant Pathology (BSPP).

In 2021, she received funding from the BSPP to support her Ph.D. research project in Plant Pathology. In 2023, she was awarded a travel grant to attend and present her M.Sc. research findings on the Molecular Phylogeny of Polyporales from Bafut, Cameroon, at the Second International Conference on Biodiversity in the Congo Basin held in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

In 2025, she received funding from the CARN Aspire Grant to work on the diversity of soil fungi around the Mount Cameroon region.

She has participated in several conferences in Cameroon, including the Humboldt Kolleg Conference titled The Transformative Development of Postcolonial Africa: Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary Perspectives, held in Yaoundé in November 2022, as well as the CBS 30th Annual Conference on Biosciences and the Well-being of the Community. She also participated in the Biodiversity and Conservation for Students and Early Career Researchers (CBCSER) conference in Yaoundé, Cameroon. She attended the International Conference on Fungal Barcoding for Biodiversity Conservation (ICFBBC, 2026) at the University of Douala and Alvi Hotel, Douala, Cameroon.

Her technical expertise includes fungi identification, sample collection, DNA extraction, and sequence analysis.

Dr. Azinue has published three research papers and three book chapters. She is currently conducting research on the diversity of soil fungi around the Mount Cameroon region and is passionate about mentoring early-career researchers in Plant Pathology.
